By integrating an external prostatic massage into your self-care routine may help you improve the health of your prostate, the strength of your ejaculation, and the stiffness of your erection. External prostate massage is intended to send sonic vibrations to penetrate through to the bottom of the prostate.
Prostatic massage should not be done if you have an active infection, pain, or prostate cancer because it may make things worse. Before you get started, you should consult with your physician to make sure that prostate massage is right for you . . . because it may not be.
-Before using this product, consult a medical professional to make sure that prostate massage is suitable for you.
-DO NOT USE if you have prostate cancer or pain in your prostate
-
It increases nutrient-rich and oxygenated blood flow to the prostate
-
It flushes toxins and releases stagnant fluids
-
Decreases fibrosis or stiffness
-
Stimulates the nerves and blood flow responsible for erection
For external massage the prostate is located halfway between the testicles and the anus. The prostate can be located internally 2.5 inches inside the rectum with the finger or massager facing towards the stomach.
Once the massager is in place, turn on vibration mode. Leave it in that position and location for 3-5 minutes. After three minutes move the massager 1/2 an inch forward and let it run for another 3-5min. Next, move it backwards and inch and let it run for an additional 3-5min. Once completed, remove the massager and wash with soap under running water. *Do not submerge in water
Everyone is different. You have to pay attention to your body and how you feel. If you experience pain, then you should stop and immediately consult your physician. Experiment with timing and frequency until you find a rhythm that works for you.
Prostate massagers are not medical devices, so law requires us to state: A) The FDA has not evaluated the health claims of prostate massage; B) This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease, because only a drug or medical device can legally make this claim.
Your prostate is a walnut-sized gland located at the base of the bladder, between your bladder and your penis, just in front of the rectum. I like to think of it as the base of the penis. The urethra (the tube that urine and semen travel through) passes from the bladder, through the center of the prostate, then through the penis and ends at the tip of the penis.
I think it is easy to minimize the importance of the prostate. However, the prostate gland is directly involved in the sexual response cycle in men. I want to make that 100% clear. It is indirectly involved in erection, and it is directly involved in the process of ejaculation.
*PROTECTOR OF SPERM: The prostate secretes pre-cum and a fluid that protects sperm.
*POWER SWITCH FOR EJACULATE TO BE CREATED: The prostate houses nerve fibers that stimulate the seminal vesicles to produce seminal fluid (seminal fluid is the primary component of ejaculate), right before ejaculation.
*HOUSES ERECTION STARTER NERVES: Because of the prostate’s special location at the base of the penis, the nerves that control the penis stiffness, the cavernous nerves, run through and behind the prostate. These nerves signal the erectile tissue to stiffen and produce an erection.
If these nerves are damaged or stretched because of prostatic enlargement (BPH), sexual function will suffer.
*EJACULATE SLING SHOT: The rubber band-like properties give the prostate power to propel or pump ejaculate fluid into the urethra during ejaculation.
*CREATES A POWERFUL FORM OF TESTOSTERONE: The prostate gland uses an enzyme called 5-alpha-reductase to convert testosterone into its more powerful form: dihydrotestosterone (DHT). Now, DHT is ten times more powerful than regular testosterone, and it is important for building muscle and for a strong sex drive.
*TOXIN FILTER: The prostate also acts to filter out toxins with a duty to protect the sperm. As men encounter more and more toxins, it becomes increasingly difficult for the prostate to do its job. Toxins can accumulate and create disease of the prostate.
*KEEPS URINE FROM LEAKING OUT: The prostate wraps around the upper part of the urine tube (the urethra). This part of the urethra is known as the prostatic urethra. It is the job of the prostate, using tiny muscles called sphincters, to make sure that urine doesn’t leak out of the bladder unless you want it to. It also makes sure that during ejaculation, no urine is released.
Stimulation of the prostate through massage has been theorized to:
-
Help drain occluded ejaculatory ducts that have filled up over the years
-
Decrease fibrosis (stiffness)
-
Improve the flow of nutrient-rich blood to the prostate
-
Stimulate the nerves and blood vessels (neurovascular bundle) that are responsible for an erection
-
Remove stagnant fluids and potentially flush out built-up toxins
Taoist philosophers and tantric teachers use prostate massage to maintain and promote extreme sexual conditioning. Some ancient rulers and elites received regular prostate massages from their staff to keep their stamina and erections in tip-top shape.
Prostate massagers are not medical devices, so law requires me to state:

It is important that before you initiate prostate massage, that you speak with your healthcare provider first. After he or she has signed off on the process, it is important to note that everyone is different.
The first week, your massage should be five minutes. This gives your body the chance to adjust to the new sensation. Your goal should be to work up to a 20min massage.
For example, some people may initiate a prostate massage and have some discomfort, others may not. For a typical individual I recommend that the first session only last about five minutes just to get used to the new sensation. After someone has gotten used to the prostate massage, I recommend that sessions last anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes, and that they take place anywhere between 2 to 3 times a week initially, and then once a health care regimen has been established, prostate massage can be completed once a month for maintenance.
Is however you have active hemorrhoids or are scared of worsening your hemorrhoids, if you have some level of hesitation to do an internal massage, you can always start with an external prostate massage. You have to start where you are comfortable.
You should always ask your physician to make sure the prostate massage is right for you and that you were doing no harm in the process. However, for most individuals I recommend prostate massage 2 times a week initially for 3 to 4 weeks and then a maintenance program of once a month.
Men with active and painful hemorrhoids should not engage in prostate massage because an internal prostate massage can worsen the situation. Also if you have a known in active prostate cancer, prostate massage should not be completed as it can potentially seed or spread the cancer outside of the prostate. If you have active and painful prostatitis in an acute phase, you should also not engage in prostate massage as it could worsen things. As always, please consult your physician before you embark on prostatic massage.
Actually, I do believe that the best combination is to use both internal and external prostate massage. Whether you purchase an internal prostate massager or an external prostate massager, both can double as either an internal or external massage device.
Is however you have active hemorrhoids or are scared of worsening your hemorrhoids, if you have some level of hesitation to do an internal massage, you can always start with an external prostate massage. You have to start where you are comfortable.
For internal massage, lubricant is a must-have. For external prostate massage it is not necessary, but it can be useful. Although silicon based lubricant will make an internal massage glide easier, it is messy. I recommend that you use a water-based lubricant. A quality brand is Sliquid and their product is available through Amazon. Their water-based lubricant is called Sliquid Naturals. They also make a hybrid version that is part silicon and part water based called Sliquid Silk. - Either of these are great products.
Even if you are doing an external massage, lubricant should be used because it can help transmit vibrations through the tissue.
As a man ages, the prostate typically grows, and for men in their 70s and beyond, it can reach the size of a plum. An estimated 50% of men between the ages of 50 and 60 have BPH, and the percentage jumps 10% in each decade of life. By the age of 80, 80% of men will have an enlarged prostate. And as the prostate swells, the swelling acts to almost block or close off the part of the urethra (urine tube) that travels through the prostate, causing urinary symptoms of benign prostatic hypertrophy (BPH).
When the prostate is enlarged or damaged, these sphincters or valves can become damaged, and urine will leak out. Strengthening the pelvic floor will help tremendously. Prostate exercises and massage can help retrain these valves.
The prostate houses the semen and then makes a coordinated contraction that forces semen out during ejaculation. Think of the prostate as the rubber band on a slingshot. Without the rubber band working, the slingshot will not work. The muscles and fibrous tissue of the prostate are extremely important in this process of propelling the fluid.
You can also think of the prostate as a ball of soft clay with three flexible pipes running through it. These pipes represent the two ejaculatory ducts and the urethra (the tube that urine and ejaculate flow through). These ducts are situated within the prostate, and they can get blocked over time, and as the prostate gets larger, these ducts can become compressed. Imagine squeezing a ball of soft clay; the tubes within will clamp down as well, and the fluid will not flow readily through them anymore. Like the ball of clay, when the cells of the prostate swell, the tissue clamps down on the ducts and makes it hard for fluids like urine and ejaculate to easily pass through. That is why men begin to notice urinary symptoms and ejaculate symptoms as the prostate grows in size.
How do I know if I have an enlarged prostate?
-
Urinary Symptoms - The enlarged prostate leads to a closing off of the prostatic urethra (the tube that urine passes through when you urinate). This can lead to any of the following
-
Decreased or slow urine stream
-
Trouble emptying the bladder completely
-
Dribbling before or after urination
-
Pain before or after urination
-
Multiple trips to the bathroom at night
-
The need to push the urine out or push to get the stream started
-
Urine being trapped in the bladder, which causes lower abdominal pain (pain and tenderness right above your pubic bone)
-
Multiple urinary tract or kidney infections that can show up as back pain or even confusion
-
Erectile dysfunction
-
Anejaculation - trouble with ejaculation
-
Sludge - clogged ducts (ejaculatory and prostatic ducts)
-
Decreased ejaculate
-
Pain
When the prostate is enlarged, it will squeeze the urine tube (prostatic urethra) and the valves or sphincters within the prostate that control urine flow. This makes it difficult to urinate and creates a mix of uncontrollable urinary symptoms.
Oddly enough, one of the common side effects of one of the most popular medications for prostate enlargement is erectile dysfunction.
How does an enlarged prostate lead to E.D.?
An Enlarged Prostate Leads to:
-
Erectile Dysfunction – It puts pressure on the cavernosal nerves that need to be active to get an erection.
-
Urinary Symptoms - A swollen and enlarged prostate clamps down and pinches the urethra closed (the tube that carries urine). Which can lead to:
-Urgency (Rushing to urinate)
-Incontinence (Trouble holding your urine)
-Weakened urine stream
-Nocturia (getting up at night to urinate multiple times)
-
Blocked Ejaculatory Ducts – When the ducts are stopped up, there is a sludge of fluid instead of a smooth flow.
-
Loss of Elastic Tissue or Fibrosis – The prostate loses the ability to propel ejaculate because it stiffens up. It can no longer perform properly because it loses elasticity.
Although prostatic massage hasn’t been studied in a major way, there is a scientific theory as to why prostate massage may help with:
-
Erectile Dysfunction
-
Prostate enlargement
-
Prostatitis
-
Nocturia (nighttime urination)
Does a prostate massage hurt?
Prostate massage does not have to be painful. If you experience pain while initiating a prostate massage, you should stop and immediately reach out to your health care provider.
There are three types of prostate massage.
1) suprapubic massage approaches the prostate gland from above,
2) internal prostate massage approaches the prostate from the posterior aspect, and the external massage approaches the prostate from beneath the gland. Since the prostate is a 3 dimensional abject, the most complete version of prostatic massage is to massage it from all three location. However, I have seen benefit from each type of massage individually.
Can these prostate massagers also be used for pleasure purposes?
Although I spend a lot of time discussing the potential health benefit associated with prostate massage, the prostate massage can also be used to provide pleasure. The prostate gland is considered the g-shot for men.
No. Prostate cancer is a contraindication to prostate massage. If you have an active prostate massage, you should not do prostate massage. Please consult your physician before initiating prostate massage.
Consult your physician first. But if he or she gives you the go-ahead, there is no reason why you can not do prostate massage while taking prostate medication.
